'Who Killed Captain Alex?' Movie Review

The movie itself is not at all comprehensible and if it was judged seriously, it would be a 1 or 3 out of 10. But you can't judge this movie by itself, because one, it already does that, and two, if you know the context of how this movie was made, you can only sit back and appreciate the gift that has just been handed to you.

The writer and director of this movie lives in Uganda. The town he shot it in had no money and was/is always under constant threat of being attacked. The man sold so much of his things to buy a camera and computer to edit it on. Everyone IN and AROUND the movie were his friends, family, and even villagers from far away who wanted the chance to work on or BE in something. AND THAT SHOWS. It's clear everyone who worked on this movie put their blood, sweat, tears, and SOUL into the project. They're having fun and you can't help but appreciate it and have fun with them. People talk about movies that are a "true testament to filmmaking" using examples like Shawshank and LOTR as examples... well, I want to be the first to say that Who Killed Captain Alex? is a TRUE TESTAMENT TO FILMMAKING.

Passion made this movie. It saved the movie. It most likely saved the peoples' souls who lived there. If there is any lesson this movie tells us it's that you don't need to be a James Cameron or a Quentin Tarantino to make a movie. Like Tangerine, ANYONE can make a movie. And MAD RESPECT must be shown to those who had to fight tooth, nail, and sometimes the constant threat of violence and drought to get a project done. And after finishing it... all I have to say is thank you. Thank you to all of you who made this movie possible. It was an absolute treat and I cannot wait to watch it again and show others just how amazing it is. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this gift.
